What is LeaderworX?

LeaderworX is a many things crammed into one incredible summer. It is an internship, formation experience, service trip, leadership training, retreat and discernment opportunity all wrapped up in an incredible life-changing event.

Started in 2006, LeaderworX is an exciting program that invites a select number of young adults to explore their lives through service to the poor, Catholic Social Teaching and social justice advocacy. LeaderworX gives community members a unique experience of working with jr. and sr, high school students as they seek to grow in faith, serve others and develop an of social justice. Though there are many opportunities for service during one’s education, there are relatively few that allow you to experience community living, professional development and a passionate commitment to social justice. It is an intense experience that gives you the tools and support to continue your journey.

LeaderworX is a great opportunity for those considering a long-term service programs, intentional community, discerning how to make the world a "better" place, or just are trying to figure out what’s next in life.

What makes LeaderworX Unique?

There are two key concepts that are at the heart of the LeaderworX program: Vocation and FaithJustice

Vocation: Understanding vocation - learning to discern your sense of calling - is essential to leading a meaningful life. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on how they respond to their ‘calling’ and ask important questions:. This spirit of vocation informs the work, conversations and experiences at LeaderworX.

FaithJustice: What does it mean for a Christian to live faithfully in the world? How do we integrate an awareness of injustice and a deep desire to do something about it into our spiritual lives? What does all of this have to do with the Gospel? Jesus’ call to community? LeaderworX takes as one of its foundational texts the words found in the letter of St. James, “faith without works is dead.” LeaderworX seeks to form young adults committed to the integral relationship between Christian faith and social justice and attempts to give them the tools to make advocacy for justice a part of their lives.
